Grain Drying and Storage Process Grain has a high moisture content at harvest. Failure to dry grain promptly or prior to transportation and storage without drying can lead to mold and spoilage, resulting in food loss and economic losses, and even food safety incidents. Modern agriculture requires my country to increase grain production while simultaneously utilizing appropriate grain drying and storage equipment to ensure grain quality and achieve the goal of "reducing losses and increasing yields."

Combining grain drying and storage, using a single set of equipment for both, has significant practical significance for resolving issues related to grain drying and storage. Overall, integrated grain production site drying and storage technology can be categorized into two main categories: drying and storage and ventilation storage.

Drying and storage

Drying and storage technology combines grain drying and storage. It can be used for both simultaneous drying and storage, or as a standalone drying and storage facility. Current integrated drying and storage technologies fall roughly into two categories: one uses heat pumps as a heat source, generating both heat and cooling during operation. The heat is used for drying, while the cooling is used for safe, low-temperature storage, achieving simultaneous drying and preservation, resulting in more efficient energy use.

Ventilated Storage

Ventilated storage is a technology that integrates ventilation and precipitation with grain storage. Depending on the moisture content and regional climate conditions, harvested grain is placed directly or after initial precipitation into a ventilated storage bin, where it is dried using ambient air. Ventilation promotes air flow within the grain pile, simulating the drying process of grain in a natural sun-drying environment. This ventilation and precipitation, along with cooling, effectively inhibits the growth and reproduction of microorganisms within the grain pile, preventing quality deterioration during storage and ensuring safe and high-quality grain storage.

In the future, by leveraging advanced technologies and engaging in multidisciplinary research collaboration, we will promote equipment upgrades and improvements, aiming to develop integrated drying and storage equipment with simple structure, easy operation, low cost, safety, environmental friendliness, and affordability. Furthermore, based on the evolving needs of post-harvest grain processing, we will promptly formulate industry standards to regulate and guide industry development.
