Avocado Pretreatment

  1. Cleaning: Select high-quality avocados, remove rotten and unripe, wash, and air-dry.
  2. Peeling and Pitting: Use special machinery to remove pits and outer skin, saving labor and improving efficiency.
  3. Mechanical Grinding: Grind fruit flesh into small pieces about half the size of a grain rice.

Avocado Oil Extraction Process

Two Methods for Extracting Crude Avocado Oil

  • Cold Pressing: Using a specially designed screw oil press from Henan Huatai Group, this method uses low-temperature pressing to achieve high oil yield without damaging nutritional components of avocado oil.
  • Solvent Extraction: Ground avocados are mixed with extraction solvent  (ethyl acetate or 1,2-ethylene glycol diacetate) at weight ratio of 1:3. After filtering, the filtrate is rotate separation on a rotary evaporator. After removing extraction solvent, get crude avocado oil.

Drying and Dehydration

Place the filtrate in a distiller and boil under moderate pressure to dehydrate, get avocado oil with a bright green color.

Filter Residue Pressing

Bake filtered residue twice. The first baking is at a temperature of 200–260°C for 10–20 seconds, the second baking is at a temperature of 70–80°C for 20–30 minutes.

Then, use a low-temperature press machine to get crude avocado oil, through filter to get avocado oil and protein cake.

Avocado Oil Refining Process

The core purpose of Henan Huatai Group's avocado oil refining process is to efficiently and safely remove gum, free fatty acids, pigments, and off-flavor substances. While maximizing the retention of avocado oil's natural nutritional components (such as chlorophyll, tocopherols, and sterols). Thereby, produce clear, stable, high-quality avocado oil that meets international standards.

Degumming

Remove hydrophilic phospholipids, proteins, mucilage, and other colloidal impurities from avocado oil. These substances cause foaming, smoking, precipitation, and rancidity when heated, affecting stability and refining efficiency.

For avocado oil, gentle physical degumming is the best method to preserve its valuable chlorophyll.

Huatai Group uses physical water degumming rather than chemical acid refining, thereby avoiding the damage of chlorophyll and vitamin E by strong acids. This process retains the avocado oil's natural emerald green color and more active compounds.

Deacidification

Deacidification is the process of removing free fatty acids from oil that cause rancidity. This is the most important step in refining, directly affecting the oil's final flavor and shelf life. Because avocado oil has a high acid value, deacidification is very important.

Bleaching

Bleaching does not remove all colors, but selectively adsorbs pigments that are harmful to the appearance and stability of oil (such as brown oxidation products). It also removes trace metals, residual soap particles, and phospholipids.

For avocado oil, bleaching protects its natural chlorophyll and carotenoids. These are valuable nutrients that should not be removed.

Huatai Group uses precise temperature control and vacuum systems to ensure that while removing harmful impurities, retains over 90% of chlorophyll, resulting in finished oil with a natural green color.

Deodorization

Deodorization removes all volatile odor substances (such as aldehydes and ketones), residual free fatty acids, and oxidation products from the avocado oil.

After deodorization, the peroxide value of avocado oil approaches 0. The flavor is pure, taste is mellow, shelf life is greatly extended, and the retention rate of antioxidants such as tocopherol (vitamin E) exceeds 85%.
